Charity Harmon -- Inside Sales Rep.

"While finishing my Accounting Degree at Virginia Western Community College, I had the pleasure of completing two internships at SDI and gaining valuable experience. After my first internship in Accounting, I was approached for a second internship and quickly transitioned into a new role by assisting with the implementation of a new system. Shortly after graduation, I was offered a full time opportunity. The experience gained while being at Steel Dynamics has been a blessing and a wonderful educational experience. I thoroughly look forward to coming to work and performing better than I did the day before. The SDI internship program provides the tools and experience that make for a successful future."

Greg Diefenthaler -- Process Engineer

"I had the pleasure of interning with SDI for two summers during my college career. I was able to play key role in meaningful projects from beginning to end. It was very exciting to see some of my projects to a full scale trial, and even be implemented. There are several things that can never be taught in a classroom. Steel Dynamics offered a terrific hands-on learning environment with plenty of skillful employees that helped guide me throughout my internships. Immediately following graduation, I began working for Steel Dynamics full time. SDI is a great company that cares for its employees and treats them well in many ways. What I like most about Steel Dynamics is the work environment. The challenges change every day and I get to work with a great team of people to continuously make improvements to our plant's safety, environmental impact, product quality and productivity."

Shane Swygart -- Corporate Environmental Specialist

"Steel Dynamics is more than a company that produces steel and recycles scrap metal. It is a company built with integrity, compassion and determination. From the very start, as an intern, I felt that I was in good hands. I interned at OmniSource, the metals recycling platform, to learn about compliance and environmental stewardship. I was given the opportunity to dive in "head-first" and learn how metals scrap recycling helps conserve and enhance natural resources and protects human health and the environment. Now, as a full time employee, I am constantly challenged to learn and grow. That's what I enjoy about my position here with SDI. Around each corner is a new challenge and each day is different. Most importantly, the support I receive from coworkers and the company has not only helped me develop professionally but personally as well. In the end, I am proud to be part of the SDI family."

Kyle Tew -- Melt Shop Reliability Engineer

2020年欧洲杯预测冠军 "During my senior year of college I interned at the Structural and Rail Division because of the outstanding reputation SDI has in the community. I was impressed by the amount of contributions the company makes to the surrounding communities. It also is one the most efficient and profitable steel producers in the world, and I wanted to be a part of that team. As an intern, I was given real-world projects and hit the ground running from day one. With hard work and determination, the opportunities to grow within the company are endless. My internship was spent with very little behind a desk and the majority of my time in the field. The transition from intern to full time employee was easy--I was proud and happy to join the SDI team. My internship gave me the training, resources, and confidence needed to contribute and push to increase efficiency and make SDI even better. I would highly recommend an internship with SDI. The future is yours, now go get it."

Sarah McCormick -- Metallurgical Engineer

"When I started my internship at Steel Dynamics, I had very little idea of what to expect. But from the very first day, the people I was working with made sure to help make me feel welcome and comfortable. I was quickly thrown into a couple of projects that kept me busy and out of the office most of the time. It was a very different environment than any job I had experience before, and I quickly found myself loving it. When I was offered the opportunity to return full time after my internship was completed, I accepted wholeheartedly, knowing that I would be working for a company I could love. Even though I had no metallurgy experience before I started my internship, Steel Dynamics welcomed me and helped teach me what I needed to know. Even now as a full time employee, I find myself learning new things every day and know that there are plenty of people willing to help me with whatever might be challenging me. To me, that is on of the best parts of the culture here. We all have the same goal of delivering a high quality product and all support each other in our own ways to make sure that goal is achieved."

Tyler Egbert -- Environmental Safety Corporate

"From this internship I have gained an incredible understanding of not just my field but the company as a whole. I have had the privilege of working with some of the most knowledgeable and adaptive people I have ever met. I have worked with various other organizations, including serving in the military, and none of which parallel the culture here at SDI. If you do not grow professionally and as a person at this company, you have not taken advantage of the opportunity fully."

Cameron Meyers -- Corporate IT

“I started at Steel Dynamics while finishing my degree in computer science. Going into this program, I had little understanding of software engineering beyond the basics taught in class. Throughout my internship, I’ve been compelled to learn things far and beyond what was taught in class, and have put what I learned into practice, creating business software for clients that will one day help me to land a full time position after school. This internship has been invaluable to me, and the environment has set me up to not only learn everything I need, but learn how to figure out what I don’t know; two skills that are instrumental in staying in this field. I wouldn’t be at the skill level I am today without my time at SDI.”

Dustin Arvola -- Metallurgy

“This summer marks my third internship with Steel Dynamics, Inc. (SDI). I worked in the melt shop of the Structural and Rail Division in Columbia City, Indiana as the metallurgical engineering intern. One of my main projects was to implement a ladle slag detection system to improve yield for rail heats. I was responsible for tasks ranging from the negotiation of labor/material costs with contractors to the quantification of ladle yield increase. Through a preliminary cost analysis, I was able to determine that this project would make the company at least $1,000,000 of additional annual profit after a payback period of only four months! The variety of projects and great co-workers are what brought me back to SDI. It is a place in which any engineer seeking to gain management experience can grow and thrive. This company not only hires talented individuals, but also gives everyone the opportunity to showcase their abilities. My internship experience has revealed to me that this company values each one of its employees. Even as an intern, I felt like I was a part of the team. Simply put, Steel Dynamics is a great company to work for.”

Noah DeWeese -- Mechanical Engineering

2020年欧洲杯预测冠军 “Interning at SDI was one of the most rewarding experiences of my academic career while studying mechanical engineering at Virginia Tech. The summer internship at SDI Roanoke Bar Division allowed me to take what I learned in the classroom and apply it to solve real world problems. I also gained valuable work and personal experience I would have not obtained elsewhere. The people who are part of the SDI team are top notch! I could not have asked for a better group to be with me as I gained my first real engineering experience. From the interview, to the last day of my summer internship, I felt as if I was considered part of the SDI family. It is a family I am extremely proud to still be a part of today!”
